Seals at Gwithian

Almost every Sunday my parents go to their favourite spot in Cornwall- Godrevy nr Gwithian. It’s a stunning stretch of coastline with three and a half miles of golden sands situated approx 4 miles east of St Ives. They sit and have their lunch looking at the spectacular Celtic sea, watching the surfers dip and dive amongst the white horses as the waves come creaming in off the Atlantic. Tucked away in a sheltered spot 5 minute walk from the National Trust carpark is a colony of seals with approx 30 staying there all year round. With very high and dangerous cliff tops please take great care but the sight is spectacular. From the cliff edge you can look down on these fabulous creatures (not doing a great deal but still fabulous!) and get a wonderful view of their community.
Here is a picture I took of over 100 seals there a couple of years ago in April.

…and after the wind has whistled through your hair and you look like you have been dragged through a hedge backwards, why not pop into the Godrevy Cafe for a hot chocolate – I recommend it!!!!!
